Essentials in rainy season travelling

The essentials are divided into 2 categories. Must have essentials and location  based essentials.

Must have Essentials

The must have essentials are the essentials in the rainy season which are applicable for all the places.

1. Rainy coat or Rain poncho

These are the rainy seasons essential as it will help to protect you from rain. Nowadays there are very stylish and comfortable raincoats and rain ponchos available. These are very helpful when you are renting any two wheeler for sightseeing. We are not recommending any brand here.

2. Umbrella or Golf umbrella

Umbrella’s are the second essential items in rainy seasons travelling. Places like the beach, shopping and other short distances where you don’t want to wear the raincoats you can hold the umbrella.

3. Rope

These are really essentials as through our experience from travelling so far we realize that many times rooms are not providing the places to dry the clothes. In other seasons it is not a big deal but in rainy seasons the quantity of wet clothes increases and it smells very bad so it is really needed to get it dry. So ropes are really helpful to dry the clothes in the room as well

4. Raincover for backpack

For any sightseeing there will be a backpack for all the essentials. So here we need a rain cover for the bag pack to protect the items from rain.

5. Plastic carry bags

This is helpful to carry the wet clothes on the return. Through all the experience in travelling we understand this is needed. In other seasons the small plastic carry bag is enough but in the rainy season a big carry bag is needed for the wet clothes.

6. Light weighted cloths

On rainy days do not use heavy clothes like jeans, costly clothes, designer cloths or colored cloths. Take very light weighted clothes only so that they will get dry easily. Heavy clothes like jeans take much time to get dry. Light color dresses are also avoided in this season as there are many chances to get dirt in the light color pants.

7. Slippers

In rainy or in my personal experience slippers are the most comfortable footwear. It has multiple uses and takes less care and easily dries.

8. Medicines

Common cold, cough, fever or flues are very common when we are travelling in the normal seasons. But in the rain due to more moisture and all wet clothes we catch these infections very easily. So it is good to take the medicines as per precautions.

9. Mosquito repellent

Mosquito repellent is a must have in travelling. Whatever you are comfortable with in the day today life. We mostly take the liquid mosquito repellent for protection. As in most places you cannot use the net.

10. Camera rain cover

Most of us use cameras for capturing the moment during our vacation. So it is really important to protect these items from getting damaged from rain.

Location based Essentials

1. Pack a waterproof jacket

If you are travelling somewhere north india and the climate is a little bit cooler and in the rain it is cooler than summer. So here we need a jacket which is waterproof which we can wear outside and make ourselves comfortable.

2. Electric Kettle

Here you can talk with your hotel, ashram or guest houses regarding hot water for drinking. Places in the north east or north where the climate is cooler here we need hot water for drinking. If they allow you to carry your electric kettle or specify them to arrange hot water for drinking.

3. Chest bag

If you are doing jungle safari or something like tracking then a chest bag is helpful to carry your ids, wallets, mobile or small essentials. It will easily fit under your raincoat.

Conclusions

There are many places which are very much crowded in winter or summer but in the rain there are less crowded. So I feel the rainy season is a good season to explore many places. The right essential items make it more comfortable. All the above lists are listed based on our experience. I will be happy if you share your essentials bag pack for the rainy season journey.
