Vechaar is a heritage museum for utensils. The heading itself is showcasing the story. This is also known as vishala. Vishala is a beautiful place which is designed in a village-like structure with lots of trees, mud houses. This museum showcases our rich Indian heritage. Inside Vishala they have a museum which is the Veechar museum and an authentic gujarati thali restaurant called vishala. 

Vechaar Museum is the utensils museum. This is the only utensil museum present in Ahmedabad. One of the unique museums which stores lots of ancient vessels. It is a private museum and maintained by a non-profit trust.

This museum is very clean and well maintained. Not all the utensils are kept shielded. There are a lot of utensils which are open and can be touched. This is amazing and the place is so beautiful that you can spend hours viewing and doing photography. The place is very big and photogenic.

This museum is very famous as it comes in many articles and newspapers for its unique ideas, traditional fares and celebrities interests.

When you enter you will find their small temple-like structure which is made from mud and well cleaned. After that you will get a straight path with lots of trees on both sides which will take you straight to the vishala restaurant. Then you will get structures with big doors and windows which give a very heritage look. Once you reach there , vishala caretakers will provide you the way and information for vechaar and vishala restaurants.

They have their own gowshala with 2 to 3 cows. You will find charpai for sitting to give it a proper village look in the restaurant. They also have a party plot named The Umang.

About Utensils

In the path of vishala to vechaar museum you will find many big utensils are placed to showcase the site. These utensils are big and magnificent. In between you will find some structure like robots made out of spare parts. 

Then they have a small outside area where you will find many storage pots big and small designed for the area. Additionally you will see the old age horse statue, elephant statue, and a very huge lock. Very big storage boxes to store all the jewelry or gold silver. It looks like it has a  royal history.

The vessels which are stored here are very ancient. This represents a rich view of our Indian heritage. There are many types of pots stored in the museum. Water storage pots which are huge and are meant for specially either water storage or for cooking. There are broad vessels which are specially made for storing the bath water which is called “tambakundi”.

Now you will enter the veechar museum and there are utensils like, water fetching pots, spouted jugs which are very different shape and size, Lock and keys which are huge to small in size, hukka jugs, plants which are used to serve foods, puja materials, kitchen wears, Dowry boxes, 1000 year old utensils which are used to store waters with the tap in it and many more.

They try to showcase a room which pretty much shows the vintage era or the village life of Gujarat which was very beautiful.

About Vishalla

Inside Vishalla there is a restaurant which is very famous and provides authentic Gujarati dishes. This restaurant is so famous that many celebrities came here to try the authentic Gujarati dish. There are many famous celebrities who come there to have authentic Gujarati vegetarian thali. Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mr. Narendra Modi, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Mr. Sachin Tendulkar and many more. They have a full wall of pictures and moments with big celebrities.

It is closed on Monday. Except Monday it opens everyday. The timing is 3:00 PM – 10:30 PM.

Nearest Restaurant and Hotels

You will find many restaurants both veg and non-veg in the vasna road. Vishala is the main restaurant which provides Gujarati dishes. You will find small restaurants in the Narol – Sarkhej road.

Restriction

1. Cannot hold the utensils which are placed outside. 
2. Cannot bring outside food.

Conclusion

We have seen very different places in Ahmedabad and this is one of them. This is a unique and beautiful museum which recalls our rich heritage. In my opinion this place is worth visiting and you must try the authentic gujarati thali of vishala.
